FSNA - London and District Branch

On late October, 2011 National President, Hélian Lizotte, Executive Director Sylvia Ceacero and Director, Government Relations Vera Yuzyk visited the Veterans Ombudsman, Guy Parent. More information on this visit will be forthcoming in the near future. At the FSNA's 2011 AGM, a resolution was approved to ensure that veterans and their families receive appropriate financial and other support from Veterans Affairs Canada. The purpose of the FSNA visit was to brief the Ombudsman on this matter and ascertain how both our organizations can work together to accomplish this lofty objective in the next few years.

Other steps that FSNA has taken towards this goal included dialogues between the NBOD and the Veteran’s Advocate Sean Bruyea and the Veterans Ombudsman at that time, Pat Stogran. As well, current Veterans Ombudsman Guy Parent was invited to make a presentation at the 2011 AGM to help educate members on the issues facing veterans. These activities all contribute towards building strong relationships and lines of communication between FSNA and veterans advocates.
